Dear Editor,
Lethem started receiving 24-hour electricity from October and the residents of Lethem thought that they had turned a corner with respect to the electricity woes.
Since the commencement of the 24-hour service, Lethem has been subjected to a daily dose of blackouts, sometimes on multiple occasions per day. Initially, residents thought that these blackouts were just a part of the acclimatization of the new generator. However, it is now almost three months since the new generator started operating and it seems that the frequency and length of the blackouts have been increasing rather than reducing.
Within the last few days blackouts have been occurring at least 4-5 times per day. Now, a period of fluctuating electricity accompanies the blackouts. This often lasts from between 5-10 minutes. During this time the electrical appliances in the buildings are under much stress often forcing the owners to disconnect them.
The residents of Lethem are left wondering why a supposedly brand new generator needs to be cut off so frequently. Also, why is there such frequent voltage fluctuation along with the blackouts? If, after just a few months of operation our electricity has already degenerated so much, what is in store for Lethem in the future?
One sincerely hopes that the persons in authority will make every effort to try to resolve this problem or Christmas in Lethem will literally be one of flickering lights.
Yours faithfully,
