Housewife accused of theft granted bail

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on Thursday granted a housewife accused of stealing, $20,000 bail when she appeared in the Georgetown Magistrateโ€™s Court to answer to the charge.

It is alleged that on Wednesday at Georgetown, 36-year-old Anita Persaud of 315 South East Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara stole $78,000, the property of Andy Wilson. Persaud pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny when she appeared in court on Thursday.

Persaudโ€™s attorney Adrian Thompson asked the magistrate for the matter be called to the bench.
This was subsequently granted and a lengthy discussion ensued.
Wilson did not attend court.
Persaud was ordered to return to court on July 30.
