An accident yesterday afternoon at the corner of Camp and Quamina streets left the drivers of a car and a minibus grateful that no one was killed or seriously injured.
The accident occurred just before 5 pm and involved motorcar PLL 4101 and Route 44 minibus BLL 775.
According to the driver of the motor car, who only gave his name as “Orin”, he was heading east along Quamina Street and had almost crossed over Camp Street when the minibus, which was heading in a southerly direction, collided with his vehicle. He said that the bus was speeding and the impact caused his car to spin out of control and crash into the concrete fence at the south-eastern corner of Quamina and Camp streets. He was alone in the vehicle at the time and came out of the accident unharmed. His vehicle, though, was badly damaged.
The driver of the minibus, who declined to give his name, said that the driver of the car was wrong since he had the right to way. The bus driver insisted that he was not speeding but said that upon the impact his bus turned on its side. According to him, he had about ten passengers in the bus at the time, but none was seriously injured.
