Prime Minister Samuel Hinds says Guyana has been made richer by the strict work ethic and cultural traditions Chinese women brought to Guyana, at a reception held to mark the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Chinese women in Guyana.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release the reception was held at the Chinese Association last week Wednesday. “It is an inspiration to all of us, and we hope that Guyana will soon get on the path of rapid development, like China,” Hinds said.
GINA said Director of Culture Dr James Rose, Charge d’ Affaires at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China San Ying Jia and notable Chinese Guyanese women Marlene Kwok-Crawford and Margery Kirkpatrick also attended the ceremony. Kwok-Crawford gave the feature address.
