Only five months into her reign, Soyini Frazer Miss Guyana Earth 2010 has been dethroned by the franchise holder of the pageant, Simpli Royal.
At a press conference at the offices of Simpli Royal, Pamela Dillon and Wasim Khan made an official announcement of the dethronement, a week after an email from Simpli Royal announced to media that Fraser was stripped of the crown because of “irreconcilable differences.”
Fraser was stripped of the crown on December 17.
“It was like pulling teeth. We really would have preferred to have an uneventful reign with this lady,” Dillon said.
While praising Fraser for a job well done while she represented the country at the Miss Earth Pageant in Vietnam, Dillion said Fraser was “independent” and liked doing things her way.
The beauty queen, since winning the crown, has been negligent in her duties, she said, while adding that she fails to show up on time or keep in contact with the pageant committee, among other things. “Her loyalty was not to the crown and Simpli Royal,” Khan added.
Meanwhile, first runner up, Kiswana Jefford will take over the reign for the remaining months until the next pageant. Jefford, while acknowledging the circumstances under which she was inheriting the crown, said, “I am willing, ready [and] able to execute my duties as Ms Earth 2010.”
Former queens of Simpli Royal pageants and other participants of the Miss Earth Pageant expressed their support for the new queen. “There are certain qualities a queen must have and proper communication skills must be followed,” former queen Melissa Payne said of the dethronement.
Efforts to contact Fraser for a comment on the matter proved futile.
