The body of an unidentified man was found in a drain at Kara Kara shortly after 8 am today.
According to residents in the relatively quiet section of the community the man who seemed to be over 50 years was found at the front of a resident’s yard.
“He wasn’t totally face down cause we coulda see part of his face to the extent that somebody coulda ID he if we knew the person.” said a woman who was on the scene.
According to others in the area the unidentified man was fully clad with a pair of black jeans and a white T-shirt and a pair of boots on his feet. “We ain’t recognize he at all he ain’t from this area, that’s for certain,” said a resident.
When Stabroek News arrived on the scene police had already removed the body and taken it to the Linden Hospital Complex where the body was examined. Sources said that the body bore no visible mark of violence.
“But he muss be drunk and wander off in de wrong direction and fall down and knock he head,” one person said. Another opined that the man may have drowned since most of his face was in the water. No form of identification was found on his person.
Others feel a thorough investigation should be done since the body could have been dumped in the drain. “Why or how come this particular street, in this drain? Something smells fishy to me,” a resident said.
The street where the body was found is not regularly used save as a foot path and by large vehicles. Both sides of the road and drains are heavily vegetated.
Police are investigating.
