The PNCR today said that APNU leader David Granger received the most group nominations for the post of party leader to be decided at the upcoming congress.
A release today from Congress Place said that Granger received 108 group nominations while former finance minister Carl Greenidge received 55, Robert Corbin 2, Aubrey Norton 1, Basil Williams 1 and Volda Lawrence 1.
Corbin, current leader of the PNCR had previously indicated that he would not be contesting the post.
The party release said that “All nominees were requested to indicate by 30th June 2012 their acceptance of the nomination and ninety (90) of the one hundred and twenty nine (129) nominees responded. Failure to respond means that, should they otherwise qualify, their names would automatically appear on the Ballot for the position/s for which they were nominated.”
Corbin has since told the party that he won’t contest any of the posts save and except for membership of the central executive committee.
The party holds its biennial delegates conference from Friday 27th July to Sunday 29th July 2012.
The PNCR is the main constituent in the opposition coalition, APNU.
