Bush Lot Secondary School yesterday celebrated its 50th anniversary with students and teachers marching from the Regional Democratic Council at Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice.
The march ended at the school where an inter-faith service was held. Representatives from the three main religions gave moral talks to the students, teachers and special invitees while dancing and singing were performed by students.
Recently appointed headmistress Zanah George said Bush Lot Secondary was once the top school in the region and efforts are being made to have it regain that status and improve its CSEC results.
Among those present for the occasion were; Anesta Douglas, Education Officer with responsibility for secondary schools; Regional Information Officer, Sandie Ross-Hendricks as well as Regional Chairman of Region Five, Bindrabhan Bisnauth who delivered the feature address.
