The People’s National Congress Reform today announced the death of Elvin Bernard Mc David, a former political assistant to Prime Minister Forbes Burnham.
The PNCR press release said in part:
“He was born in Georgetown on the 10th June 1944 and was educated at St Mary’s RC School, St Stanislaus College, University of Birmingham and the University of the West Indies. He died in Jamaica where he was receiving medical attention.
Elvin Mc David was a former Political Assistant to the Prime Minister, Forbes Burnham; Minister of Information and Culture (1971-72); and Ambassador to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. He is credited with much of the pioneering work for the hosting of the first Caribbean Festival of the Arts (Carifesta) and the establishment of the Guyana National Service (GNS).
The PNCR extends its deepest condolences to Mr. Mc David’s children, brother and relatives.”
