Body found floating near Watooka

The unidentified, decomposed body of a man was fished out of the Demerara River in the vicinity of Watooka on Thursday night by police.

According to โ€˜Eโ€™ Division Commander Senior Superintendent Calvin Brutus, the body was seen floating by residents in the Watooka area at 8 pm on Thursday. He said an hour later, the man, who appeared to be of African descent, and whose body was clad in a checkered boxer shorts, was fished out of the river.

The Commander told Stabroek News that the body was taken to the Wismar Hospital mortuary, awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
