Commentators and activists Raymond Gaskin and Christopher Ram are hosting a discussion series titled ‘Challenges and Choices’ in the conference room of the National Library during this month.
According to a press release, the first session will be held today on the topic ‘Government Elections and Constitutional Reform; followed by a session Wednesday April 8 titled ‘Constitutional Commis-sions and Reform of Public Service and on Friday April 17 titled ‘Crime, Security, Defence and Judicial Reform; and Formulation of policies on education including the University of Guyana, unemployment, youth and wages and the restoration of collective bargaining. On Friday April 24 a session titled ‘Policy on the ownership and use of national and natural resources; and contracts entered into by the Government’ will be held. On Tuesday April 28 ‘Reform of public financial management, including taxation reform and an independent parliamentary budget office, reform of major national institutions including GuySuCo, the National Insurance Scheme and Guyana Power and Light Inc’ and on Wednesday April 29, ‘Corruption, fraud and theft from the public purse; Reform of the state media.’
