German’s Restaurant has thrown its support behind the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG).
Yesterday, CEO of the entity, Clinton Urling handed over a cheque worth $100,000 to Team Manager, Amanda Hermonstine to aid with offsetting the expenses of the 15 shortlisted athletes scheduled to represent Guyana at the Games in Grenada on Easter Weekend.
Urling told the media that this year, his company will focus primarily on sponsoring athletes and sports disciplines and reminded that in January he injected the same amount into Beach Football.
Urling then encouraged other corporate entities to do their part in helping our local sportsmen and women to bring glory to the nation.
President of the AAG, Aubrey Hutson was thankful and stated that in excess of $4M is estimated to cover the cost of the expenses of the athletes and officials. He also disclosed that the government of Guyana, the Guyana Olympic Association and other corporate sponsors have also thrown their support behind the athletes. However, the target is still to be met.
