Two Region Four men die from COVID, 186 new cases reported

The Ministry of Health yesterday confirmed that two men from Region Four who tested positive for COVID-19 have died.

The Ministry disclosed that the fatalities are a 55-year-old and a 64-year-old. The men died while receiving care at the ministry’s medical facility. 

The two new deaths push the total number of fatalities from the pandemic to 333.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard shows that 186 new cases were recorded yesterday after 1,364 more persons were tested. The new cases increased Guyana’s total positive count to 14,845 while the total number of persons tested to date now stands at 133,695.

The country now has 1,815 active cases, 111 of whom are in institutional isolation, eight are in institutional quarantine while another 1,696 are in home isolation. The new cases were reported in seven administrative regions; 28 cases in Region Three, 86 in Region Four, 7 in Region Five, 26 in Region Six, 21 in Region Seven, 16 in Region Nine and 3 in Region Ten.

According to the dashboard, the number of persons in the COVID-19 ICU is 12. Another 142 persons have recovered from the virus and the total number of recovered cases now stands at 12,693.
