‘Taps’ son shot dead outside home
One of the sons of the late Albouystown businessman, Errol ‘Taps’ Butcher was gunned by two gunmen outside his James and Barr Streets home last night.
Twenty-two-year-old Oyama Butcher, was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital shortly after he was shot at around 8:30 pm.
When Stabroek News visited the scene last night shocked residents could be overheard discussing the young man’s demise.
Sketchy reports reaching this newspaper stated that the man was standing in front of his home when two men pulled up
in a car and pumped bullets into his chest.
The young man ran across the road into a neighbour’s yard, but was reportedly pursued by his assailants who stood over him after he fell to the ground and riddled his body with bullets.
The men then quickly left the scene with Butcher lying in a pool of blood and gasping for breath. He was rushed to the hospital but his relatives’ attempts were futile as he had already died.
Butcher died the same way his father did earlier this year.
Gunmen driving by in a car had shot the older Butcher several times in America Street. He was admitted to the St Joseph Mercy Hospital but died a few days later.
And shortly after the father’s demise another son, Shawn Butcher, was also shot by men driving by in a car at the same comer where his brother was shot.
He was admitted to the same hospital his father was but was later released and has since left the country.
The police are investigating the shooting.
