Two die after gunmen blast car at Buxton
Two Berbicians travelling to the Timehri airport were shot dead by a gang on the Buxton public road yesterday morning, two others narrowly escaped death and the body of a Buxtonian was found with a bullet wound to the head in the village.
Dead are Clyde Duncan, 29, of 42 Company Road, Buxton; Seeram Pomdass, 44, and Cecil Sahadeo, 63, known as ‘Creature’, both of Number 72 Village, Upper Corentyne. The circumstances surrounding the death of Duncan, whose body was discovered yesterday morning in a trench near to the Buxton Market, are unclear.
The deaths of the three men come amid a dramatic upsurge of criminal violence. On Wednesday, four men and a woman were shot dead by ‘ gunmen in two separate attacks in Georgetown. On Thursday night, six men were injured when bandits attacked the prison officers club and the Vigilance Police Station was also strafed after a large gang attacked it. A little later an army patrol in Buxton was attacked by gunmen and one of the attackers was injured.
