The body of a 22-year-old man of Good Hope, Mahaica who went missing last Saturday was found in a clump of bushes by residents around midday yesterday.
Laikraj Jaikarran called `Catchie’, who is the father of a three-week-old baby, was found lying on his back with his hand over his face in a coconut estate at Spring Hall, Mahaica.
Stabroek News learnt that police found a `Rambo’ knife in Jaikarran’s pants pocket and a bottle with what appeared to be poison close to his body.
His 18-year-old wife Nalini Ramharack said she and her husband were staying at his mother’s house but she left on Saturday to spend some time with her mother. She said late Tuesday evening his relatives visited her and enquired if he was there and they told her that he had disappeared since Saturday.
She said she told them he was not there but she had seen his bicycle close to the coconut estate earlier in the day. She assumed that he was working at the time. She said his relatives went yesterday in search of him and she got a message that they had found him dead.
The woman said even though she went to the scene she did not get a chance to see her husband since the police detained her for a few hours for questioning.
