Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan yesterday granted $150,000 bail to a police officer who allegedly raped two three-year-old girls last year.
Junior Rodrigues, a police officer of Lot 9, La Grange Old Road, was not required to plead to the two carnal knowledge charges when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
According to the facts of the case, Rodrigues, between July 1 and 31, 2005, at La Grange, allegedly raped the girls, who are sisters.
Rodrigues was unrepresented in court. He was also treated differently from other prisoners who appeared to answer charges at court as he was allowed to walk down the court steps, escorted by an officer, instead of being placed through the chute. Rodrigues was ordered to appear at the Wales Magistrate’s Court on January 11.
