The introduction of the VAT has seen businesses stooping to an all-time low. They seem to have free rein over the already tightly squeezed consumer as they unscrupulously and criminally scam us out of a few extra dollars to fill their coffers.
Everyone’s general fears of the introduction of VAT appear to be materializing as businesses are adding 16% to the already inflated cost+30% C-tax selling price.
I am yet to see a reduction in the selling price of basic food items and incidentally, my wife paid VAT on a loaf of bread at one of the leading supermarkets in Georgetown
