I refer to the letter penned by Ret. Fire Chief, Carl Rogers, DSM captioned “Emergency reported to electricity company on December 22 but still no action” (06.12.30). Management of GPL is disappointed that the Radio/Telephone Operator who responded to his emergency call was apparently discourteous.
A thorough investigation has begun and the party or parties responsible for any deviation from the required Customer Service standards, and for the delay in attending to this emergency will be held accountable.
Our Emergency logs indicate, however, that there was indeed a backlog of consumer incidents at the time that Mr Rogers made his first report. Line technicians visited the premises on 26 December and tightened a slack connection. Another emergency report from the same location was logged the following day and tree branches that had encroached on the distribution line were cut on that day.
Strong winds and heavy rainfall in some areas caused minor damage over the past few weeks to the power distribution networks. GPL wishes to assure its customers that our line and emergency technicians would be ready to remedy system faults should the spontaneous inclement weather pattern continue.
