Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) beat Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) by 75 runs in a friendly match played at the GYO ground yesterday in preparation for the upcoming cricket season.
Transport won the toss and scored 283 all out from 35.4 overs.
Stephen Alves blasted five sixes and a five fours compiling 82 to lead the visitors while Kellon Carmichael stroked eight fours and two sixes scoring a well-constructed 59.
Kevin McAdam hammered six sixes and two fours in a quick-fire 51 while Damien Ross joined the run-spree striking two sixes and one four in making 34.
Michael Goolsaran picked up three wickets for 34 runs and Y. Persaud grabbed three for 45 bowling for GYO.
GYO responded shakily losing two early wickets by the run-out route but still managed a respectable 208 all out in 40 overs led by a stroke-filled century by Vijay Gangaram.
Batting at number three and with wickets falling around him Gangaram smashed six sixes and ten fours scoring 103. Only Vaden Walker with 33 including four sixes and a four provided any real support.
Leg-spinner Quinn Procter picked up four wickets for 27 runs while Alves completed a solid all-round performance grabbing two for 28.
