Dear Editor,
Is there not a Consumption Tax on gasoline, reflected in the price motorists pay at the pumps? Is this not greater than 16 %?
If VAT is intended to displace the Consumption Tax, should there not be a change in the price of gas? Hopefully, a lower one, for the benefit of motorists.
Please clarify.
Yours faithfully,
Josh Ragnauth
Editor’s note
We are informed that the consumption tax of 50% on gasoline was abolished and replaced by an excise tax of 50%.
