Guyana’s largest beverage company, Banks DIH Ltd yesterday launched the newest addition to its spirits line, the VXO Extra Old Demerara rum.
At a simple ceremony yesterday, the company’s Public Relations Officer Ian Hercules, Rum Factory Executive Robert Sugdeo, Sales and Marketing Executive Carlton Joao and Rum Sales Manager Dwain Bristol introduced the new rum to members of the media.
Sugdeo said the alcohol in the VXO rum has been aging in the Sherry Cast, which means it, has a nice full-bodied aroma and a very pleasing taste.
The new spirit will be on store shelves shortly and according to Joao a case of 700 ml of VXO will cost $12,585 while a case of the 200 ml, which are in plastic bottles, will cost $3,045. Both prices he said are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT).
The VXO brings the total number of rums manufactured by the company to six.
Commenting on the recent fire at Bank, Hercules said the inferno has not hampered the company significantly and hopefully the cleanup will be completed by month end.
He said the company’s insurance claim report is expected shortly.
When Stabroek News arrived at the company’s compound yesterday, several men were busy cleaning the burnt out section of the building.
