Mayor Hamilton Green recently attended the inauguration of the Minetta Foundation in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T).
A press release from the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) said Green was the keynote speaker at the function to commission the Foundation. Guyanese Dr Michael Sue is the president and founder of the Foundation, which was established to assist Guyanese attending the University of the Southern Caribbean, formerly known as the Caribbean Union College. The college was awarded university status in March 2006 and it offers bachelors and masters degree programmes accredited by the T&T government. Sherwyn Cambridge and Rondi Sue are the co-chairpersons of the foundation.
Other speakers at the ceremony included former Guyana Chancellor of the Judiciary and Justice of the Caribbean Court of Justice, Desiree Bernard and Dr Trevor Gardener, president of the university.
The ceremony was hosted at the Hilton hotel.
