The Ministry of Agriculture and the Guyana Revenue Authority are hosting Value-Added Tax sensitisation programmes for sugar industry stakeholders.
A press release from the ministry said Minister of Agriculture Robert Persaud and Commissioner-General of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) Khurshid Sattaur will on Monday and Tuesday meet with members of the sugar industry at the Rose Hall Estate Orderline at 6 am, the Albion Estate Orderline at 6.30 am, the Skeldon Estate at 10 am and at the Tain Primary School at 5 pm. Tuesday’s meeting will be hosted at the Blairmont Estate Orderline at 6 am.
The ministry said the objective of the visits is to allow workers and stakeholders to voice their concerns about VAT and to clarify any misconceptions about its implementation.
The ministry and the GRA have already held similar sessions with stakeholders in the poultry, fisheries and forestry sectors.
