Dear Editor,
The Anna Regina Town Council collects revenue equal to $1,000 for every corpse that is buried there, but nothing is being done to maintain the cemetery.
Over the years, civic-minded residents have done voluntary work to ensure that the site is kept clean and that flooding is kept to a minimum.
However, with the advent of the rainy season, the cemetery is frequently flooded and grave-diggers have complained that the holes are filled with water, forcing them to bail out the graves with buckets.
Residents feel that this is not an acceptable situation and they are calling on the Town Council to dig proper drains around the perimeter and to build an embankment to prevent flooding in the future.
Yours faithfully,
Frederick Gilbert
