Dear Editor,
There are those who would like to sow divisions in the society and as part of their stratagems they want to portray the PPP/Civic administration as anti-religion.
This is not a new ruse, it was also used in the early days of the PPP to create animosity and divisions in the society which had dire consequences.
We now see that Mr. Christopher Ram is falsely alleging that PPP/C Member of Parliament Odinga Lumumba , who is also the Presidential Adviser on Community Development and a Cabinet member had attacked the church while making his presentation on the subject of casino gambling.
All who watched and listened to Mr. Lumumba’s speech will know that he showed his ingrained respect for the church and religion and in no way attacked them while addressing the House.
The subject of casino gambling and its pros and cons, has attracted heated debate from all sections of the community, as we have an open society today and no one suffers from any restraint in expressing their views.
So let us beware and be cognizant of those who want to use this matter to create animosity and division and abuse their rights of freedom of expression.
Yours faithfully,
Leelah Ram
