Banks Barbados Head Brewer Steven Gittens has told Stabroek Business that his technical role in supporting the brewing exercise prior to last Friday’s launch by the local company of the new energy drink Plus Energy breaks new ground in a long history of cooperation between the two companies. “This is the first time our collaboration has brought a product to this stage,” Gittens said. Gitttens flew to Guyana early last week to work with Banks DIH operatives during the brewing stage of the product which was launched last Friday at Thirst Park.
Gittens told Stabroek Business that the two regional spirit and beverage manufacturers had shared a long history of technical collaboration in order to produce high quality products and that he anticipated that that collaboration will continue in the future.
According to Gittens, Energy Plus which has been manufactured for more than thirty years, is the company’s second best seller – behind Banks beer. Energy Plus is also marketed in the United States and Canada.
The new energy drink is the third product to be launched by Banks DIH Ltd. this year. Less than two weeks ago the company launched its new Extra Old VSOP rum. Last Friday Banks DIH Ltd also launched its new Misty flavoured water.
At last Friday’s media briefing held to coincide with the launch Company Director George Mc Donald told representatives of the media that the trend of providing new products to meet market demands will continue.
Banks DIH Ltd celebrated its fiftieth anniversary last year while its counterpart company in Barbados, also pioneered by the late Peter d’Aguiar, has been in existence for 46 years.
