It is conceded that the job of an editor is to edit.
However, it concerns me that, in the context of all that has transpired over the past two weeks the editor carefully chose to delete the following paragraph following the words “Commonwealth Parliamentary Association” in the letter “These Ministers must apologize in Parliament” (SN 1/23/07).
“In the context of a discussion about casino gambling (and only in that context) it seems right to say that you could bet good money that that would not have been the case had a member of the House disparaged Hinduism or Islam. There is an unacceptable double-standard at work here. Is this the norm in Jamaica?”
To the extent that you yourself have now provided ample evidence of that double standard
