Thirty coaches from Demerara, Essequibo and Berbice are currently participating in the Guyana Cricket Board’s Level One, four-day coaching programme which began yesterday at the National Gymnasium.
The group includes Guyana Twenty20 star and former West Indies U-19 skipper Andre Percival who missed the Berbice programme which was conducted last August-September.
The coaches will be assessed in six months to determine their progress and readiness to advance to the next level.
According to Territorial Developmental Officer of the GCB, Colin Stuart, a Level Two programme is planned for February 8 through 11 and a Level One programme will take place in March for senior national players.
“We feel they can use the information for their own game and also they will be equipped to disseminate it to their club members, “said Stuart, the former West Indies fast bowler.
The seminar is being conducted by Michael Hyles, Mark Harper, Vibert Johnson and Orin Bailey. (RP)
