Two men who were arrested at Kurupung Landing, Mazaruni after police allegedly found a quantity of cocaine and ganja in a shop they were in, on Thursday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and were remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan.
Dale Edwards, 20, of Bartica and Rudolph Peters, 36, of Vigilance Squatting Area pleaded not guilty two joint charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
It is alleged that on Wednesday they had in their possession 47 grammes of cocaine and 87 grammes of cannabis both for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the police, acting on information policemen went to a shop at Kurupung Landing. The owner was not there but the two defendants were in the shop at the time. A search was conducted and the policemen found the drugs hidden in a white magarine bucket.
The two defendants will return to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on February 21.
