Dear Editor,
I would like to touch on the piling up of garbage in the capital city in Georgetown at King Street as seen in the Chronicle of 24 January 2007. The reason for the garbage piling up is because the Mayor and City Council have failed to perform their duties.
It is an embarrassment to the government and our country to know that Cricket World Cup is just a few weeks ahead and the capital city is unsightly for tourists coming to our country although some improvements have been and are being made.
The Mayor and City Council need to pay more interest to clearing the waste that comes out of the trenches or drains and to collect all the garbage.
The Mayor and City Council and the Neighbour-hood Democratic Councils need to be vibrant in our society.
Yours faithfully,
Sultan Khan
