Dear Editor,
Mr. Hamilton Green recently aired his ‘paramount’ view on our heritage, writing in SN 1-26-07, “As Guyanese we must all be proud of our heritage, but to so blatantly advance one group is counter to our motto of One People, One Nation, One Destiny.” He wants comments on his bizarre claims of domination of Africans, here are some. The Green Party had appointed in the very seat of Government, the Parliament, an African Cult with full privileges to carry out oblations and ceremonies before the sitting of Parliament and during Independence, Republic /Mash Celebrations. All these were one sided in favour of one small minority group within the minority Africans, 70% of whom are Christians.
Furthermore, Mr Green is the last person who should ever conceive writing about a joint heritage of the six races in Guyana. He has embarked upon such a course of ‘nit-picking’ on the CWC Brochure, that he has unwittingly opened up ‘a can of worms.’ Now he is hypocritically mentioning ‘Domin-ation of Africans, ‘Heritage of Six People’ and the Fifties call which was ‘Partition or Death’ Mr. Green assumes the air of a Saint as though he is the paragon of such a noble past in the PNC. Throughout the marginalization of Indians in Guyana did any ever make such calls as Green?
Re Amerindians:
Starting with the Amerindians, his party in office ordered the removal of Amerindians against widespread protests, from the UMRP Grid and flooded the entire settlement destroying the livelihood of the Amerindians to facilitate a ‘pipe dream’ of Burnham and the PNC. I do recall certain ‘protest-able’ appointments/ promotions of hundreds in the Guyana Public and Teaching Services during my tour of duty 1966-1988.
Re: Indians:
Then coming to the question of Indians in Guyana, what has he to say about the frustration of thousands of ‘Indian’ Teachers and Civil Servants, who eventually made tracks to foreign soil. Has he forgotten his role in the blatant advance of the African agenda of domination during the ruthless dictatorship of the PNC.
