Dear Editor,
Can I concur with the letter and sentiments of Sandra Ann Baptiste about Cecil Griffiths. Griff’ was a great man, a superb journalist and a good friend, a gaff with him worth its weight in gold. Cecil’s despair at the charade that too often passes for journalism in Guyana was something to respect.
Ms Baptiste is right. Let us honour Cecil in his death, as he would like to have been honoured in life, by setting up a prize to encourage better standards among young journalists either within or outside the University of Guyana.
He would appreciate that.
Yours faithfully,
John “Bill Cotton/Reform”Mair
