Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) Sports club beat Third Class by 29 runs in a match of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) under-19, limited-overs cricket competition played at the T&HD ground on Saturday.
T&HD won the toss and scored 191 with Kellon Carmichael scoring 60 laced with six fours. Travis Blyden supported with 32 including two fours.
Third Class made a good effort but could only muster 162 for eight of which Anthony Petamber scored 38.
Blyden picked up 3-16 and Courtney Fields 3-26 bowling for T&HD. Over at the Everest Cricket Club ground, the home team trounced the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by 129 runs.
Everest won the toss, batted and scored 206-7 from their allotted 40 overs.
Chris Patadin scored 53 including six fours, Rajendra Chandrika chipped in with 44 laced with four boundaries, Joseph Perry scored 30 and Ryan Rajmangal contributed 29.
Rayod Hamid picked up 5-31 bowling for GCC who, in reply, were trundled out for 77.
Friday’s centurion Jeetendra Sookdeo struck three fours top scoring with 32.
Keon Lake picked up 3-17, Chandrika nabbed 2-5 and Javed Rasheed 2-11 bowling for Everest.
In Queenstown, the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) made light work of Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) beating them by 166 runs.
DCC won the toss, batted and scored 244 in 34.3 overs.
Floyd Jones led the way with 38 including six fours, Devon Gonsalves scored 34 with five fours and Levon Primo chipped in with 27 including five fours.
John Champayne picked up 4-15 and Rudolph Massiah 3-38 bowling for GYO whose response ended after 19.2 overs with only 78 runs scored.
Kester Harcourt picked up 3-14, Torvalo Scipio grabbed 3-17 while Carlyle Barton and Mathew Marques nabbed two wickets each bowling for DCC.
At the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground, Malteenoes beat the home team by 39 runs.
GNIC won the toss and invited Malteenoes to take first strike. Delvon Mc Ewan struck seven fours and two sixes top scoring with 58; Avishankar Singh struck four boundaries and a six scoring 41; Everton Charles chipped in with 26 and Dennis Legay contributed 22.
Right hand leg-spinner Ranole Bourne picked eight wickets for 24 runs from 7.3 overs bowling for GNIC who, in reply, were bowled out for 161 in 31 overs.
Dexter Solomon top-scored with 46 not out which included three fours and one six and Rodwell Dempster chipped in with 35 including three fours and two sixes. Adrian Smith picked up 3-31 while Dennis Legay, Simeon Sam, and Vishal Mangal grabbed two wickets each.
