It will be Guyana’s turn to undergo yet another appraisal when officials of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket World Cup (CWC) arrive today for the latest venue inspection tour ahead of the 2007 International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup tournament.
The officials, headed by Venue Development Director Don Lockerbie, embarked on their latest tour one week ago and have so far visited the Beausejour Cricket Ground in St Lucia and the Kensington Oval facility in Barbados.
The officials are here today to assess the progress made at the Providence Stadium since the last inspection tour in November and December last year.
Tim May, president of the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations, (FICA) is part of the venue assessment team for the first time.
The inspection team also includes Andy Atkinson, the ICC’s pitch and field consultant; David Richardson, general manager of ICC cricket operations; Professor Eugene van Vuuren, the ICC stadium consultant; Michael Hall, CWC’s cricket operations director and Andy Roberts, CWC’s pitch and field consultant.
