The Guyana Squash Association (GSA) will serve off their season with the Bounty Farm Limited Mashramani Handicap tournament from February 13-18 at the Georgetown Club beginning 5pm.
President of the GSA, Ronald Burch-Smith, in a press release stated that the handicap tournament is the most popular on the GSA calendar and had attracted as many as 68 players recently.
The tournament will be followed by a number of games that will lead to the Pan American Junior Championship in Jamaica set for October.
The players are given point handicaps based on their level of skills which range from as high as -35 points to as low as +13 with games played up to 15 points.
Players of all skill levels are allowed to compete in the competition which encourages exciting and entertaining matches.
In 2006 Shawn Badrinath started with a handicap of -35 and defeated Everest player Randy Hope who started at +10 to take the open title. While in the A category Lee Fung-A-Fat started with +12 and took home the title after outlasting Kayla Jeffrey.
Persons interested in participating in the tournament are asked to obtain entry forms posted on the notice boards of the Everest Cricket Club (ECC), Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and the Georgetown Club before the due date February 10.
