Dear Editor,
I still want to believe that we live in a country where freedom of speech and choice is our fundamental right. However I find that the government is seeking to suppress these very rights that exist. I have listened to the reasons given by the president for the withdrawal of government advertisements from your paper. I have found them to be baseless and designed to attempt to put you out of business.
The other agencies that follow suit only did so because of the same baseless reasons and no doubt an urge from someone within the government.
Over the years I have found the Stabroek News to be quite fair at times in its criticism of the actions of the government. No doubt the government see these criticisms as spokes in their wheels. Anyone who dares to speak out against this administration and what they stand for will be dealt a similar blow.
