Authorities are continuing a probe into the electrocution of two Kwakwani, Berbice women on Wednesday afternoon while in conversation as they held on to opposite sides of a fence.
Dead are Janeva Letlow aka `Auntie Dolly’, 78 yrs, and Oslyn Vandenburg, 30. According to neighbours in the area, Letlow and Vandenburg were electrocuted while holding on to a fence in the backyard of the older woman.
Oslyn was at the time on the premises of her workplace at the Kwakwani Children’s Hostel where she was a cook and Letlow was in her adjoining backyard.
Sources said that prior to the incident it was raining heavily in the area and there was a power surge which damaged appliances.
It was said that there was an exposed wire in the yard of Letlow which ran from her house to a nearby fowl pen and this is believed to have been the cause for the two being electrocuted coupled with the fact that there was an earthing problem in the area.
