Trinidad and Tobago businessman Symdeo Gosine injected an undisclosed amount of cash into the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) coffers on Friday, and pledged to continue making monetary contributions every month.
According to GFF’s Organising Secretary, Aubrey Major who received the donation from Gosine in Trinidad on Friday, the businessman expressed an interest in assisting with the development of the sport in Guyana since the GFF is not getting much help from the Guyana government.
Gosine who once owned the professional football club Doc’s Khellawas was responsible for several Guyanese footballers securing contracts in Trinidad.
Among them were Charles ‘Lily’ Pollard, Randolph Jerome, Collie Hercules, Cary Harris, and Jermaine Scott.
Major said also two other Trinidad firms have said they were willing to assist with the development of football in Guyana. The firms are Rossi and Ross Advertising, which is one of the largest advertising companies in the twin island republic and is owned by a Guyanese.
The organising secretary explained that the companies saw the need to assist local football and came onboard.
