A suspected armed robber is under police guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he sustained injuries in an exchange of gunfire with his intended victim.
According to a press release from the police, a man and his family along with another family were, on Sunday last, at about 4 pm, on their way to the National Park when two bandits on a bicycle accosted the man and robbed him of a cellular phone.
Reports are that the intended victim, a licensed firearm holder, chased after the men and they started to fire shots at him. The man, in hot pursuit, returned fire and one of the men sustained wounds to his right leg.
Police said one .32 revolver and the cellular phone were recovered. The release also said acting Commissioner of Police Henry Greene complimented members of the public for their active and continuing support in the fight against crime.
