The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is advising employers that Form 11 returns for 2006 are due on or before February 28 and the deadline for Value-Added Tax (VAT) returns is today.
Employers’ returns, commonly known as Form 11, should be done in triplicate copies where two copies, the original and duplicate must be submitted, the GRA said in a press release. The employer can retain the triplicate copy of Form 11 to help in the preparation of employees’ Income Tax returns and emoluments statements. Form 11 should be accompanied by a declaration and a summary form which must be signed by the company’s accountant, the person who prepared the returns or someone in authority.
It must also have the employees’ name and address clearly stated and the months they have been employed listed. The GRA also advises that extra care should be taken when recording the months of employment as this may vary from employee to employee and is essential for record-keeping especially for refund purposes. Employers are also advised that all of the sheets in the returns should be numbered in sequential order with the employers’ stamp affixed to each.
Additionally, the GRA reminds VAT registrants that returns and payments can be submitted in Georgetown at Customs House, the Internal Revenue Department at the Guyana Post Office Corporation building or at the VAT office at the junction of Albert and Charlotte streets. VAT returns and payments can also be made at the GRA regional office branches located at Anna Regina, Region Two, New Amsterdam and Skeldon in Region Six and in Linden, Region Ten. The GRA said today is the deadline for VAT returns and payments.
