The annual Mayor’s Cup quarter-finals will kick off tomorrow at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground with two mouth-watering clashes as what is widely believed to be the best eight teams in the country vie for the first prize of $500,000.
After four nights of play in the first round of the annual Mayor’s Cup city sides Camptown, Fruta Conquerors, Pele, Santos, Western Tigers, Alpha United along with Topp XX of Upper Demerara and Victoria Kings have all moved on to the quarter-finals billed for tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Fruta Conquerors’ Delon Williams is the leading goal scorer after the first round of the tournament was completed last Friday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda. Georgetown League champions, Alpha United edged BV Triumph 1-0 while Victoria Kings mauled Police 4-0 last Friday to complete the first round of the tournament at the GFC ground. In tomorrow’s quarter final-matches Santos will oppose Fruta Conquerors from 6pm while Pele and Camptown will clash in the feature game from 8pm.
On Sunday the two remaining quarter-final matches will see Western Tigers against Victoria Kings from 6pm and Alpha United against Topp XX from 8pm.
