Television personality, Neaz Subhan has been appointed Director of the Government Information Agency (GINA) and assumed his position earlier this week replacing the former acting head, Dr Prem Misir.
When contacted yesterday Subhan told Stabroek News that he took up his position earlier this week and was in his office “straightening out” and streamlining his work programme.
He co-hosts the morning show, Guyana Today on NCN and did stints with the NCN newsroom until recently.
Subhan told Stabroek News that Dr Misir was now attached to the Office of the President as a press and publicity official. Subhan takes up his post amid a searing controversy over GINA’s cut-off of ads to Stabroek News. This decision was purportedly made by GINA under Dr Misir. Stabroek News has said that the cut-off was a political decision while GINA has said that it made the move on its own based on commercial principles.
