Dear Editor,
I fully support the appointment of Mr. Kerik as security advisor to the President. He is eminently qualified for the job and should be given a chance. I publicly challenge all his critics to “he who is without sin cast the first stone.” There are many prominent people in our society and in this world who are committing serious economic and other crimes daily who were never caught and prosecuted or who used their influence to cover their actions. I happen to know scores of them.
I also publicly challenge his critics to produce an individual in the region with Mr. Kerik’s qualifications and experience. As far as I am aware there is only one other, Mr. Errol Vannooten, who for some strange reason does not have the confidence of the administration as he is only being allowed to serve on the various boards of enquiries.
I close by saying “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God that includes all of Mr. Kerik’s critics. You have my full support Bernard, get on with the job.
Yours faithfully,
Robert Gates
