Ascension Community High School defeated Dolphin Secondary School by six wickets in the second semi-final of the Georgetown Zone of the Secondary Schools’ cricket competition at the Demerara Cricket Club ground yesterday. A swashbuckling innings of 61 with ten fours by Roger Morgan and Christopher Dick’s 4-16 which included a hat-trick proved too much for Dolphin Secondary.
Ascension won the toss and invited Dolphin to take first strike. They were dismissed for 142 in 26.2 overs. Karan Francis top-scored with 34 while Elon Fernandes chipped in with 32.
Travis Walton ably supported Dick grabbing 2-21 bowling for Ascension who responded by knocking off the runs in 22.1 overs whilst losing four wickets. Dexter Solomon combined with Morgan to post a 67-run second-wicket partnership which placed Ascension firmly on the path to victory. Orlando Williams picked up 3-17 bowling for Dolphin.
Ascension will now meet St Joseph’s tomorrow at a venue to be named.
