The National Assembly last evening passed the Appropriation Bill 2007 approving the National Budget after a number of days of debate on the Minister of Finance’s speech and the estimates in the Committee of Supply.
The amount covered in the Appropriation Bill is $90,298,537,000 and this is necessary to meet the expenditure of Guyana for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2007, in accordance with Article 218 of the Constitution and Section 17 of the Fiscal Management and Accountability Act 2003.
The Appropriation Bill seeks to provide for the issue from the Consolidated Fund of the sums for these expenditures.
