One man was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital and 11 persons treated and sent away after the bus they were travelling in on Monday collided with two cars and turned turtle on the Fyrish Public Road.
Sarran Ramlogan of Number 64 Village, Corentyne sustained injuries about his body and is in a stable condition.
Stabroek News learnt that the bus ‘Cash Point’ driven by a 30-year-old man known only as `Sky’ of Number 70 Village, Corentyne and owned by Devindra Ramgolam was heading towards Corriverton around 7 pm when the accident occurred.
The driver of the bus said he was approaching the turn at Cortland Village, driving at around 60 kmph when he saw a car, HA 8003, proceeding in the opposite direction. He said as he was “about to pass” the car turned suddenly in his path and collided with his right side front and rear wheels in the centre of the road.
According to police, the driver asserted that as a result of the impact his drive-shaft was dislocated, causing him to lose control. The bus toppled several times and collided with another car, PEE 6644.
