The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha said its Phagwah Mela and Bazaar will begin tomorrow on the lawns of the sabha’s kendra in Prashad Nagar.
A press release from the sabha said the Mela will feature the Dharmic Nritya Sangh dancers and male and female singers and musicians. Delicacies and vegetarian goods will also be displayed. The activity is scheduled from 4 pm to 10 pm.
The sabha also said its annual chowtaal samelan will be held countrywide on Sunday. It said a number of chowtaal goles will meet to sing seasonal phagwah renditions. The schedule for the activity is as follows: at the Miss Phoebe Mandir, Central Corentyne from 10 am; the Palymra Mandir, East Canje from 4 pm; the Bushlot Mandir, West Berbice from 9.30 am; the West Meten-Meer-Zorg Mandir, West Coast Demerara from 3 pm and at the Golden Fleece Mandir, Essequibo at 12.30 pm.
The sabha advises that the Essequibo Praant Phagwah Mela is scheduled for March 5 at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground at 12.30 pm.
