Nigel Bryan played true to form to cart off the boys’ U-15 singles title, while Samuel Fraser captured the boys’ U-13 crown as action in the annual Mashramani table tennis tournament continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Bryan was all business in defeating Leevon Beaton 11-2, 11-3, 11-9. Third place went to Berachah GHarrett, who defeated Denzel Duff 5-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-9.
The girls’ U-15 singles final produced an upset when favourite Tiffany Blair went under to Ambrose Thomas 6-11, 6-11, 7-11.
Fraser copped the U-13 boys’ title when he defeated Denzel Duff 11-2, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9 while Jamaal Duff stopped Hamid Ramlagan 11-2, 11-1, 11-0 for third place.
There were two upsets in the boys’U-15 category. Eight-year-old Elishaba Johnson, son of national coach Linden Johnson, came from two sets down to defeat nine-year-old Joshua Sue Ho while nine-year-old Jamaal Duff got the better of 14-year-old Brian Duncan in three straight games.
