Dear Editor,
A few days ago a letter penned by one Jason Hinds questioned Mr Lye’s decision to return his CCH to the Office of the President. He concluded that Mr Lye’s actions were ill conceived and achieved nothing.
I would like Mr Hinds to know that even if Mr Lye’s act of returning the CCH meant nothing to the government it meant a great deal to many citizens of this country. I was proud to know that there still exists, in this country, people who are willing to rise above mediocrity and the self-centred “turn a blind eye” approach that defines our society today.
Mr Lye is a stranger to me but his act speaks volumes about the person that he is. Mr Hinds, whoever he is, seems to have missed the point of the gesture.
Yours faithfully,
N Sagar
